Habitat: Full sun; alluvial soil, occasionally flooded.

Description: Erect annual, to 1 m tall, well branched above. Leaves opposite below, alternate above, petiolate, linear-lanceolate, 3-nerved to 5+ cm long, serrate. Phyllaries united into a cup.
