Lewis, A. D.

Arnold D. (A. D.) Lewis PhD, crisscrossed the state of Mississippi for several years in the late 1960's and early 1970's photographing many of the wild-growing, blooming plants there. He took more than 1000 pictures of native plants to illustrate a never-published field guide, tentatively titled Wildflowers of Mississippi. Dr. Lewis' widow graciously donated his images and the manuscript for his book to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in July, 2009.

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is committed to developing the premier resource for native plant images in North America through continued growth of the Plant Image Gallery. You can help us achieve our mission ...to increase the sustainable use and conservation of native wildflowers, plants, and landscapes... by becoming a contributor.
