Burch, Kathryn

Kathryn Burch's motivation for painting nature is best expressed in her own words, "Nature is my muse – I love the pure, enchanted beauty of the living world."

"I paint because there is joy in seeing and expressing the ever-changing beauty of the natural world. Art happens when you capture the magical fleeting moments in nature. Frank Lloyd Wright said, 'Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.' The fullest expression of my art strives to emulate the pure and perfect tensions of nature, yielding nuances of light, shape and color thereby creating a connection between the artist, the viewer and the outside world."

Kathryn grew up in Virginia and credits her Gram for seeing the artist in her, taking young Kathryn to her first lessons at the age of 10 and proudly displayed every masterpiece she painted! Creating became integral to every part of the young artist’s life. Kathryn graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the College of William & Mary and went on to pursue the arts through painting, teaching and illustrating.

She sums up her thoughts by saying, "I am honored to be an active participant in the local Central Texas art community!"
