November is outside the normal blooming period so I feel really lucky to have this image. In Hillsborough River State Park, I noticed all the plants of this species grow well over head-high. I suspect that is because any plant within reach has been collected by orchid collectors. I spotted this plant blooming near the main rapids overlook. It was about twelve feet high on a live oak limb. I walked away from it twice thinking there was no way to photograph it. The third time I used a nearby railing to stand on. I put my camera on the tripod and used a stick to balance it in the "Y" split in the limb. I used another stick to prop the inflorescence up so I could reach it.
