Shot: Plants in situ. Photographer's note: "This is Appalachian shoestring fern. It grows in the deep low light canyons at Cherokee Rock Village. This colony looks atypical because there are no proliferous gemmae on any of the gametophytes. I confirmed the identification with an expert on the species."
