Shot: A plant in situ. Photographer's note: "Hanging Clubmoss is actually related to ferns. This may be the rarest plant in the U.S. seeing how it may be the only plant of the species in the U.S. The species has never been common in the United States. In the late 1990's to early 2000's there were two plants known. Those plants have not been seen in recent years despite repeated searches by myself and others. It is feared that the tree limbs they grew on fell into the water. This single plant was discovered earlier this year. I am sure other plants exist in the vast swamp. They are difficult to find because of where they grow. This individual grows about eight feet above the water and is difficult to photograph without a long lens. This image was taken with a 100 mm lens with fill flash using a sync-cord. There was bad back-light and the plant was dark."
