Shot: A flowering pistillate plant. Photographer's note: "Boott's sedge is uncommon in Georgia, especially in the eastern and northern parts of the State. It can form large patches and is sometimes called the "donut hole sedge". Often the center of a patch will die causing a colony to form a "donut". Patches will bloom in late winter. Female flowers are extremely rare. Apparently most colonies represent male plants. In this huge patch there were four or five blooming female plants. I felt very lucky to have seen the female flowers."
