Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?

A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.

Title: Planting turf grass in PA
Answered by: Anne Bossart

QUESTION:

Is it too late to plant new grass in mid October in Pittsburg? Should I wait until Spring at this point?

ANSWER:

It really depends on what kind of weather you have been having.  If the soil is still warm enough to facilitate germination, fall is an ideal time to plant grass seed.

We recommend you contact your local argricultural extension office to get this advice.
