Native Plants
Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?
A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.
Did you know you can access the Native Plant Information Network with your web-enabled smartphone?
Ask Mr. Smarty Plants is a free service provided by the staff and volunteers at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Title: Non-native Centaurium spicatum, family gentianceae
Answered by: Barbara Medford
QUESTION:
I need to know every single detail about centaurium spicatum family gentianceae.ANSWER:
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is dedicated to the care and propagation of plants native to North America. Therefore, not only do we not know every single detail about Centaurium spicatum (Australian centaury), we don't know much of anything about it. We did learn on this website, Threatened Flora of Tasmania, that it is a native of Australia and considered threatened in Tasmania. There seem to be a number of websites on the subject, so we suggest that you Google on "Centaurium spicatum" and perhaps then YOU will know everything there is to know about it.More Non-Natives Questions
