Many a rough and tumble writer or tall tale teller has been inspired by Texas’ tough yet lovely landscapes. Explore the mythology and folklore of native plants from firewheels to bachelor’s buttons then try your hand at poetry and prose of your own with instructor guidance.

Jaime deBlanc-Knowles holds an M.A. in creative writing from the University of Texas at Austin. Her work has been published in Post Road and Meridian, and she has been the recipient of a MacDowell Fellowship and a Lighthouse Works Fellowship. She is currently working on her second novel.
