Watercolor Workshop: Carolina Jessamine

Discover tips and techniques to bring your watercolor paintings to life! In this creative and beginner-friendly class, artist Andrea Patton will guide you through painting Carolina Jessamine (Gelsemium sempervirens), our 2026 Wildflower of the Year. Whether you’re new to watercolor or looking to refine your skills, this workshop offers a fun and inspiring way to celebrate native plants through art.
 

What to Bring:
Please note, supplies are not included. You will need the following materials:

  • 2-3 pieces watercolor paper, minimum size 5 x 7″ or larger. 140 lb cold press preferred (watercolor block is recommended)
  • 3 small round brushes size 1, 2 and 3
  • 2 medium round brushes size 6 and 8
  • 1 medium round mop style brush size 18 or 20
  • Watercolor paints in red, blue, yellow, green and black (Winsor & Newton or Daniel Smith are recommended)
  • Small ULTRA fine black sharpie marker
  • Art tape and foam core board to tape watercolor paper (if you do not bring block paper)
  • Pencil 
  • Kneaded eraser
  • Sketch pad

This class is open to beginner and intermediate artists, ages 15 and up. Youth under 18 must attend with a registered adult chaperone. No experience required—just come ready to create!
