This summer take a break from the heat and join a virtual tour of one of the most iconic and eye-catching groups of Texas wildflowers. The common annual sunflower has been cultivated for thousands of years in the Americas as a source of nutrition, oils and garden cheer. With a total of nineteen species found in Texas, these tall beauties contribute to the diversity and resiliency in one or more ecoregions throughout the state. Explore the unique differences between agricultural and native sunflower varieties through the morphology, distribution and cultivation from the cool comfort of your home!
