Know Your Sunflowers – VIRTUAL

July 17, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

$25
Three prairie sunflowers (Helianthus petiolaris), on prominent with an ant on a petal and two out-of-focus in the background, are bright yellow over a clear blue background.
A field of prairie sunflowers (Helianthus petiolaris) with a blue sky and setting sun nearing the horizon.

This summer take a break from the heat and join a virtual tour of one of the most iconic and eye-catching groups of Texas wildflowers. The common annual sunflower has been cultivated for thousands of years in the Americas as a source of nutrition, oils and garden cheer. With a total of 19 sunflower species found in Texas, these tall beauties contribute to the diversity and resiliency in one or more ecoregions throughout the state — and they’re our 2021 Wildflower of the Year! Explore the unique differences between agricultural and native sunflower varieties through the morphology, distribution and cultivation from the cool comfort of your home!

Space is limited and registration is required. This class will take place online via Zoom.
Participants will receive an email with the link for the Zoom meeting prior to the event. Make sure you have Zoom installed and set up to participate.
