Native Plant Gardening Series: Plants I

The Native Plant Gardening Series prepares students to transform their yards and gardens into efficient and beautiful native plant landscapes over the course of seven classes (Saturdays, April 2 - 30 and Sunday, April 24). Take these classes individually or enroll in the entire series and save. This is one of our most popular offerings and the series will sell out so register now! 

Plants I
April 9, 1 – 4 p.m.

Identify and learn about a variety of plants native to Central Texas, unique growing characteristics of each and how to choose the right ones for a garden.

Classes in this series will take place in person at the Wildflower Center. Space is limited and registration is required. Masks are optional for our guests. Please review our safety guidelines before your visit.

Designing for Urban Landscapes - NEW
April 2, 1 - 4 p.m.

Discuss a practical approach to designing for your own backyard or other relatively small spaces (an acre or less). Anyone can learn to design a landscape - no drawing skills required!

Large-scale Landscape Design
April 9, 9 a.m. - noon

Learn to analyze a site and discuss a practical approach to designing large-scale projects that can otherwise feel overwhelming. This class will focus on sites greater than one acre.

Native Plants I
April 9, 1 - 4 p.m.

Identify and learn about a variety of plants native to Central Texas, unique growing characteristics of each and how to choose the right ones for a garden.

Native Plants II
April 16, 1 - 4 p.m.

Dig deeper into the topic of Texas flora. Learn about native plants and where to find them as well as resources to keep growing. Plants I is recommended prior to this class.

Maintenance
April 23, 1 - 4 p.m.

Maintaining a native garden requires knowledge of plant physiology, gardening tools, watering guidelines and other best practices. Learn it all in this essential class.

Installation
April 24, 1 - 4 p.m.

Learn site preparation, irrigation, planting best practices and mulch application for a healthy garden.

Integrated Pest Management
April 30, 1 - 4 p.m.

Identify common beneficial and harmful insects in your garden landscape. This class also covers pest management, treatment and safety practices.
