Native species horseweed coexists with an invasive species Johnsongrass on the side of a small hill.

Some plants belong here. Others don’t. In Central Texas, invasive species crowd out native plants and disrupt delicate ecosystems — but with a little knowledge, you can help tip the balance back in nature’s favor.

In this class, you’ll learn how to identify common invasive plants and the best ways to remove them. We’ll cover useful tools, online resources, and strategies for prioritizing what to tackle first. Along the way, we’ll discuss invasive species within the bigger picture of land stewardship: how plants interact, how systems shift, and how our choices make a difference.

Whether you’re restoring a backyard, managing a ranch, or volunteering in your community, you’ll leave with confidence to spot invasive plants and know when and how to act.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to identify common invasive plants in Central Texas
  • Effective removal methods and recommended tools
  • Resources for learning more and staying involved
  • How to think about invasive plants in the context of stewardship

This class is designed for adults (ages 15+). Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Space is limited, and registration is required.
