This family-friendly event invites visitors of all ages to explore the natural world through hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and interactive experiences inspired by the Lone Star State. From native wildlife to local conservation efforts, Discovery Day offers a fun and engaging way to connect with the science and stories of Texas.

10:15 a.m. — Ed Sones
Local historian and storyteller Ed Sones shares stories and perspectives on Texas history and culture.
11:10 a.m. — Walk and Talk: Texas Favorite Plants
Explore some beloved Texas native plants on a guided walk through the gardens.
11:30 a.m. — Native American Cultural Center
Learn about Indigenous cultural traditions and connections to the Texas landscape.
Hands-on stations and educational activities will be offered throughout the day.
Partners include Austin Fire Department’s Wildfire Division, Capital Area Master Naturalists, Native Plant Society of Texas, Austin Animal Protection, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the Bullock Texas State History Museum, and Wildflower Center staff.
