Every gardener knows the mantra: right plant, right place. But “place” isn’t just about sunlight and water. Soil tells the real story.

In this class, you’ll explore how Texas soils shape what grows well and why. From limestone to clay, sandy loam to blackland prairie, our soils are as diverse as the plants themselves. You’ll learn how to assess your own soil, how to care for it, and how to build healthier soil naturally.

Understanding your soil is the foundation for a thriving garden, and this class will give you the tools to work with what’s already under your feet.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to assess your soil type and understand its properties
  • Which native plants thrive in different soil conditions
  • Natural methods for improving soil health over time
  • Practical ways to match plants to your site without costly amendments

This class is designed for adults (ages 15+). Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Space is limited, and registration is required.
