Austin Museum Day

September 22

Free

As part of the annual citywide Austin Museum Day, the Wildflower Center will offer FREE admission on September 22! Along with exploring our gardens and trails, be sure to check out these activities we have going on:

  • Join artist Mark Menjivar on bird walks through the Center’s research trails.
  • 1 p.m. – Enjoy Symphony of the Birds: A Sound Performance, a unique soundscape experience in the Auditorium by artist Mark Menjívar.
  • 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Visit Central Texas Seed Savers and several other local grassroots organizations during Wildflower Center Fall Field Day in the Great Hall for engaging learning opportunities, including a seed swap!
  • Seed Swap – The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center inspires the conservation of native plants. In support of this mission, we strongly encourage you to bring and swap Native Texas seeds. Please note: Seeds must be in a closed container, labeled with the species and year of collection. Guests are not required to bring anything to participate in the seed swap.
  • Explore your creative side with arts and crafts activities led by our very own Education team.
  • Scientist Alan Emanuel Silva Cerqueira will be at the Center to share his research about the health benefits of social interaction in bees. Stop into the Legacy Theater to see blue-light paintings representing his findings!
  • Flutter on over to the Little House to experience our Power the Migration exhibit and learn all about Monarch butterflies.
  • In the Wildflower Café, visual artist Sabra Booth will be exhibiting three pieces from her collection Herbal Traces: Medicinal Plants of South-Central Texas, celebrating regional flora and its healing properties.
