This EPA Level III ecoregion encompasses all or part of 35 Texas counties. As its name suggests, it is comprised of the coastal plain of Texas, extending along the Gulf Coast south into Mexico and east over portions of the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. In Texas, it covers approximately the same land area as the Texas Parks & Wildlife Departmentís Gulf Marshes and Prairies vegetative region.
