GARDEN VIEWS

An inside glimpse of the gardens from our Instagram feed

How’d your dog handle the firework sounds? If Fido is still hiding in the bathroom, assure him that fun is on the horizon. Dog Days are happening THIS WEEKEND, July 9 & 10, at the Wildflower Center! We can’t wait to see those wagging tails on our trails. Get details via link in bio.

What are your Fourth of July plans? The Wildflower Center will be open normal hours and some of our plants look like fireworks! Plan your visit via link in bio.

There are shady spots all over the Wildflower Center — including beneath the petals of purple coneflowers (Echinacea purpurea), if you're extra tiny. Can you spot the grasshopper in this photo?

Join us THIS EVENING for the final Nature Nights of the season. It's all about caves, mud & water, so wear something machine washable ;). Follow link in bio for deets.

P.S. If you haven't heard, there will be cave tours! Sign-up for those begins at 5:45 p.m. in the Family Garden.

Look closely! This isn’t JUST a picture of a native coral honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens) leaf. What else do you see?

For this month’s mandala, artist Larissa van der Steen Quon collected plant matter from our Savanna Meadow, which she says has been seasonally "sun washed into muted golden tones." Doesn’t this hypnotic composition of architectural seed heads resemble the sun itself?

Planning to hang out near a body of water this weekend? You have something in common with American crinum lilies (Crinum americanum)! Find them blooming around freshwater marshes, cypress swamps, and the edges of ditches and lakes. The beautiful patch pictured here resides in our Wetland Pond. Learn more about American crinum lilies via link in bio.

It's #PollinatorWeek, and the busy bee in this video seems to be celebrating. "Party on the Texas lantana (Lantana urticoides) everyone!" We've planned a few festivities of our own. Join us this evening for Nature Nights: Pollinators and the Plants They Love. Admission is FREE. There'll even be a puppet show! See link in bio for details

Allow us to brighten up your hump day — Field of Light tickets go on sale next month! See link in bio for details about the exhibition, which explores the intersection of art, technology and nature.
