Step 1

Find a clean glass container with a lid, pebbles, horticultural char- coal, sterile potting mix, a large spoon and a spray bottle.

Step 2

Choose plants that tolerate par- tial sun to full shade conditions like ferns and moss. Make sure they will fit in the container.

Step 3

Fill the bottom of the container with 1 inch of pebbles. Sprinkle a light layer of charcoal. Then add a 2-inch layer of mois- tened potting mix.

Step 4

Loosen any excess soil from plants. Plant terrarium and lightly mist the soil with filtered water. Add whimsy with a small toy.

Step 5

Pick a location near a window that will receive natural light, but keep out of direct sunlight. Open lid if glass is fogged until clear.

Step 6

Monitor for watering and mist soil, not plants, when needed. Groom plants to keep compact and remove dead leaves.
