FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 21, 2012
What: “A Bouquet for Mrs. J” Centennial Gala and Silent Art Auction celebrates the founding of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and the centennial of Lady Bird Johnson’s birth.
When: The Gala is Friday, April 27, 2012. Cocktails and hors d’ oeuvres at 6:30 p.m. Dinner is at 8 p.m.
Where: Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at the University of Texas at Austin, 4801 La Crosse Ave., Austin, TX, 78739
Background: Texas has declared 2012 Lady Bird Johnson Centennial Year, and this year’s Wildflower Center Gala will be a grand celebration of the place Lady Bird Johnson called her “living legacy.” Friends and family of Mrs. Johnson and Wildflower Center supporters will be on hand as we share a special announcement from Luci Baines Johnson and commemorate the anniversary year of our co-founder’s birth – and the center’s 30th anniversary.
The Centennial Gala and Silent Art Auction is a green event that celebrates the center’s national leadership work in environmental sustainability and showcases our native plant gardens. The gala will include a dinner catered by the Four Seasons and a silent auction with more than 60 art pieces contributed from Texas and beyond. The event features a locally sourced, sustainable menu and provides more than half the center’s annual philanthropic support for its education, research and conservation programs. For centennial gala details, to view art and purchase tickets, visit: http://www.wildflwoer.org/gala_landing/. Bids by proxy must be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org or 512-232-0138 before 5:00 p.m. on April 26.
