Free Admission Holiday Shopping
At Wildflower Center Wild Ideas Event
What: The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center goes wild for the holidays with artists, artisans and special sales during the 21st Annual Wild Ideas Shopping Event.
When: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 and 3. Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4.

Background: Get in the holiday mood while enjoying the artistry of handcrafted jewelry, nature photography and woven throws. The Wildflower Center is the perfect place to shop for holiday gifts the first weekend in December. Enjoy free admission -- and 20 percent discounts off all merchandise in the store all three days. Friday’s offerings include artist Jo Pollock signing her holiday ornaments from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a jewelry trunk show then by Betsy Simpson. On Saturday and Sunday, more than a dozen artists and artisans will display their wares, including painted glassware, botanical prints and cards. Saturday also includes a trunk show of woven throws from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and book signings. In the store, William Welch will sign “Heirloom Gardening in the South” from noon to 3 p.m. after giving a brief talk. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Tiffany Hamburger will sign “Austin: A Photographic Portrait.” Store visitors on Sunday enjoy a 30 percent discount before 1 p.m. on all store apparel and additional book signings from 1 to 4 p.m. Christa Pandey signs “Southern Seasons” at that time, and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas show their book, “Texas Wildflowers.”
