Background:  The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center unveils this year’s Wildflower Gala and Silent Art Auction with special guest Laura Bush, former First Lady of the state of Texas and of the United States. Mrs. Bush was a friend and admirer of Lady Bird Johnson and is a long-time supporter of the Center. She has also been a champion of sustainable landscapes, and was instrumental in creating the First Bloom Project in our national parks, for which the Wildflower Center provided educational oversight. She will be recognized at the gala for her environmental contributions.

The greenest gala in town, this elegant outdoor party will include dinner catered by the Four Seasons and a Silent Art Auction with more than 60 pieces of art contributed by noted artists from Texas and beyond. The event will celebrate and raise awareness of the Center’s research and education programs designed to save plants for future generations, create and restore sustainable landscapes and provide other environmentally sustainable benefits. Gala proceeds support the annual operations of the Wildflower Center and directly impact our important work, research and educational outreach.
