Artists & Artisans

What:  Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center’s Artists & Artisans Festival showcases the nature-inspired works of more than 20 American artists.
When:  9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 19.  Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 20

Where:  Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center of The University of Texas at Austin, 4801 La Crosse Ave., Austin, TX

Background: The center’s Wildflower DaysTM spring season begins with Artists & Artisans Festival, an intimate gathering highlighting the work of 26 American artists in sculpture, photography, jewelry and more. Their art for sale includes nature-friendly, handmade items such as gourds, floral jewelry, natural spa and bath products, barbed wire sculptures and numerous other art pieces. Yellow Carolina jessamine recently added color to the gardens in addition to the red berries of Possumhaw trees, and abundant Texas bluebonnets are starting to bloom.

Saturday Ken Moore discusses his bluebonnet paintings in the store from 1 to 4 p.m. On Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., Shou Ping reveals how she creates 3-D watercolor paintings of flowers, birds and more at her exhibit in the McDermott Learning Center.
