What: The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center goes wild for the holidays with artists, artisans and special sales during the 20th Annual Wild Ideas Shopping Event.
When: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 3 and 4. Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5.

Background: Whether your loved ones enjoy photography, jewelry, nature books or special teas, the Wildflower Center is the perfect place to shop for holiday gifts the first weekend in December. Enjoy free admission and special merchandise discounts daily. On Friday, general gifts will be 20 percent off. Artist Jo Pollock will sign her holiday ornaments from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and hand painted pottery and cloisonné ornaments by Kitty Keller will be on display at a trunk show. On Saturday and Sunday, more than a dozen artists and artisans will display their wares, including painted glassware, botanical prints and cards, handmade soaps, jewelry and much more. Saturday brings a 20 percent discount on all books, and honors University of Texas at Austin faculty, staff and exes, who receive an added 10 percent off all items with identification. The day also includes two nature book signings in the store. Cheryl Hazeltine will sign “Central Texas Gardener” and Judy Barrett signs “What Makes Heirloom Plants So Great” from noon to 3p.m. Moksha Bells and Music of the Spheres present “bells for the holidays” products from 1 to 4 p.m. Store visitors on Sunday enjoy Franz porcelain jewelry show, as well as 20 percent off apparel and accessories. From 1 to 4p.m. that day, Ken Kramer and Charles Kruvand sign “The Living Waters of Texas,” while Bill Schmidt is on hand from noon to 4 p.m. with a Parsley & Sage apparel trunk show.
