FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wildflower Center Names New Development Director

A development expert with previous experience in this field at The University of Texas at Austin and Arizona State University has been named director of development at the university's Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Justin Michalka has spent more than seven years in professional fundraising, most recently as regional major gifts officer at the Arizona State University Foundation. While there, the native Texan managed major gifts coming from Texas and from the Los Angeles area.

Prior to April 2008, he served on the development staff at The University of Texas at Austin for nearly six years. He most recently was associate director for development, where he was responsible for major gift activity in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, in East and West Texas, and in Los Angeles and Seattle.

Before being promoted to that position in fall 2007, Michalka was an assistant director of development for two years. In addition to regular visits with university supporters, he helped establish and manage an external advisory council of young alumni and volunteers. His previous positions include being a development specialist at the university.

Michalka earned a bachelor's degree in English from Texas A& M University in 2001, where he was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
