Wildflower Days 2004 Continues at the Wildflower Center
Spring Plant Sale and Garden Festival Boasts More Than 23,000 Plants
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center continues its Wildflower Days with the ever-popular Spring Plant Sale and Gardening Festival held on April 17 and 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a special members-only preview sale Friday, April 16, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This plant sale boasts the largest selection of native plants in Central Texas with some 300 species and 23,000 plants from which to choose. Native plant experts are available all day to help you make the best choice for your garden. Event Highlights include:
- Demonstrations by Bill Phillips and Wildflower Center staff
- Guided walks focused on gardening for wildlife; native Texas wildflower identification; designing a native Texas garden; butterfly gardening; gardening with deer; gardening for the birds; and get to know the natives
- Interactive, family-friendly discovery carts stationed throughout the Center
- At $link(nd=store,Wild Ideas: The Store): On Saturday, April 17, Geyata Ajilvsgi signs Wildflowers of Texas from noon to 4 p.m.; Clara Newby, Official Wildflower Days ® 2004 artist, signs $link(006392,t-shirts) and $link(006074,art prints) all weekend long
At the plant sale and throughout the spring, interactive, family-friendly Discovery Carts will be stationed throughout the gardens between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. These stations engage visitors in the mission of the Wildflower Center through a collection of visual aids and biofacts. Springtime topics include: hummingbirds, lichens, plant families, indigenous peoples, and edible plants.
Additionally, visitors can join Center staff every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 1 p.m. for a short, featured walk and talk about the Wildflower Center and its springtime happenings. The walk topics change each week and are appropriate for all ages. (March 20 through the end of May 2004).
Wildflower Days wrap up on May 1 and 2 with $link(nd=2027,The Living Garden). Visitors will watch nature come to life when The Living Garden visits the Wildflower Center. DiVine, The Rock, The Fountain, and The Orchid make their first appearance at a Texas garden during this can't-miss event. The Living Garden will be open on May 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on May 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours for the Wildflower Center are Tuesday - Sunday 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. From March 22 to April 26, the Center is open on Mondays as well.
Admission is $7 for adults and $5.50 for seniors and students. Children 5 and younger, and Members are free.
The Wildflower Center is located in southwest Austin: Follow Loop 1 south, turn left on La Crosse Avenue, the first light past Slaughter Lane. The Wildflower Center is two blocks down on the right.
