A variable species with numerous combinations of distinctive characteristics. Height ranges from 4-24 in. Basal leaves are broad, sometimes heart-shaped and long-petioled. Stem leaves are narrower and become gradually smaller. Foliage may or may not be hairy. Yellow, radiate flowers occur singly or in clusters at the end of each stem.
