Evergreen tree with rounded, spreading crown of foliage that is shiny above and silvery-white beneath; sometimes a clump-forming shrub.

One of North America's most distinctive and beautiful small oaks, Silverleaf Oak is grown in warm regions as an ornamental for its unusual foliage. The scientific name, meaning "white underneath," refers to the leaves.
