Goldeneye phlox has 5 pink to purple petals united to form a tube that is slightly shorter than the length of the corolla lobes. The petals open out almost flat and have a conspicuous yellow eye bordered by white. It grows 3-5 inches tall, with narrow leaves alternately arranged on the stem.
