A tufted plant with basal, pinnately compound leaves up to 12 in. long, each with up to 30 silky-haired leaflets. Flower stalks rise 12 in. and bear many flowers in a dense spike. The flowers are yellow or occasionally white, and are sometimes tinged with purple.
