An erect plant with large, bilaterally symmetrical, translucent, pale yellow flowers tipped upward in upper leaf axils.

The translucent, pale corolla gives the common name Ghost Flower. There is only one other species in the genus, Lesser Mohavea or Golden Desert Snapdragon (M. breviflora), which grows in the same region and has bilaterally symmetrical, lemon yellow corollas only about 1/2" (1.5 cm) long.
