Small, round, light green, saxifrage-like leaves occur in basal rosettes which send out stolons to start more rosettes in strawberry fashion. A nearly leafless flowering stem, from 6-18 in. tall, bears a spike of tiny, white to purple-tinged flowers. Each flower has an extremely intricate, snowflake-like design visible only on close inspection.
