The stout 2-6 ft. stem of this perennial is densely long-hairy below; the hairs up to almost an inch long. The narrowly oval leaves are also hairy and occur with more frequency toward the base of the stem. The yellow, dandelion-like flower heads occur in a cylindric, terminal cluster.
