The erect stems of Pink-flower Hedgehog rise about 4 in. Stems are made up of one-jointed, three-dimensionally oval, strongly ribbed parts. Long, curved spines occur from the vertical ribs. Purple, funnel-shaped flowers are borne on the upper part of the plant. These are followed by an edible, red, spiny fruit.
