A low-growing, many-stemmed, tufted perennial with curved-ascending, branched stems rising only 4-8 in. Basal leaves are spoon-shaped. Purple-tinged, yellow flowers are ligulate - made up of many flattened "petals" - and become fluffy white as seeds mature. They occur in many-headed clusters among the leaves.
