This milkweed grows 4 to 16 inches high and has narrow leaves. The leaf arrangement is variable. The flowers are small and have greenish-yellow petals with some purple markings. The hoods are tall and pointed (Lewis)

Flowering from April to June in dry, sandy pine woods (Lewis).
