Herbaceous perennial with slender, unbranched, slightly pubescent, stem; 8-28 inches tall. Alternate, numerous, sessile leaves; linear to narrowly lanceolate and pointed upward; 2 3/8-7 1/4 inches long and 3/8 inches wide. Inflorescences are several to many, solitary umbels, terminal or lateral from upper nodes. The flowers are 5-parted with greenish white corollas tinged in purple, reflexed and 1/4 inch long; anthers united with the stigma; hoods 0.08 inches long and without horns. Fruit is an erect follicle, 3-4 3/4 inches long, 3/8 inch diameter with many seeds with tufts of white hair. (Bibref 1295) (Bibref 824) (Webref 24)
