A low, fragrant, lightly woolly plant bearing small, rayless, yellow flower heads on stalks much taller than jagged leaves with few forward-pointing teeth on edges.
The genus name derives from the Greek words meaning "hair" and "feather," referring to the fruit tip's dissected scales. This is the only species in the genus.
