The green thread is 28–36 inches tall, with 1–3 stems growing from the base, usually branching in the upper portion. The leaves are opposite, mostly near the base of the stem, once or twice divided into thread like segments, about 3 inches long. There are many yellow flower heads with 8 ray flowers about 5/8 inch long, each with 4 teeth at the tip. The disc flowers are also yellow (248).
