An erect shrub with branched, slender stems. Height is variable; usually about 20 in. but occasionally as tall as 3 ft. The dark brown bark on older stems is continuously shed. The alternate leaves are shiny and oval. Tiny, white to pinkish flowers are crowded in a flat-topped cluster.
