Bartonia paniculata ssp. paniculata is found from Ontario and Maine south to east Texas and Florida and is less common in the northern parts of its range, being listed as a species of special concern by Canada's Species at Risk Act for Ontario, by the US as threatened in Maine and Michigan and as endangered in Illinois and New York.
