As a service to the public, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center collects information on native plant societies, conservation groups, governmental agencies, botanical gardens, arboreta, and other plant-related organizations throughout North America. Native Plant Focus: Friesner Herbarium actively promotes education efforts about Native Plants through its web site, tours, lectures, and participation with other local, regional and national native plant organizations.
Description: The Friesner Herbarium is systematic collection of nearly 100,000 dried, pressed, and preserved plant specimens.The Herbarium, which is the third largest in the state, is of great value to professional botanists as well as students, faculty, and staff of Butler University. Herbarium staff also engage in many research projects that promote awareness and preservation of wildflowers and native plants. We also serve as an outreach organization to the local public.
