Abstract

Studies the role of the Florida box turtle (Terrapene carolina bauri) in the dispersal of native seeds from pine rocklands. Turtles disperse the seeds of Serenoa repens. Germination studies indicated that germination percentage and rate of S. repens increased after passing through the box turtle digestive tract.
