Abstract

Examines the effects of increased freshwater flow in the Everglades on the litter decomposition responses on tree islands and marshes. Leaf litter of Chrysobalanus icacao was analyzed over 64 weeks for changes in mass, decay rates, and phosphorus, nitrogen, and carbon dynamics. Significant differences were found in litter dynamics between tree islands and marsh and varied by flow rate.
