Abstract
Researches the effects of Hurricane Andrew on the growth of Ardisia escallonioides in south Florida. In hurricane-disturbed areas, mortality of Ardisia escalloinioides was low but adult plants were damaged and defoliated. After the hurricane, populations exposed to the most disturbance had higher growth than populations that were not disturbed. Seed germination and seedling growth did change with increased light availability in disturbed areas and long-term seed dormancy was not observed.Suggested Citation
