Habitat: In moist understory of Quercus, Ulmus, and Cornus.
Description: Erect tree, 4.5 m tall, crown rounded, twigs red-brown, bark thin, tight, irregularly furrowed. Leaves alternate, petioled (to 15 mm), simple, entire, obovate, rounded at base, acute at apex, to 4x8 cm, shiny dark green above, paler beneath, w/8-10 pairs of distinct lateral veins (orange) parallel to margins. Fruit on short peduncled cymes in axils, globose; seed 2-3, stoney.
