Location: NE of low water crossing of Salado Creek by the road from main base of Fort Sam Houston to the Pershing Firing Range, San Antonio.

Habitat: Full sun. Damp, alluvial soil, often flooded.

Description: Taprooted annual, 4 dm tall, or more, Leaves opposite, to 12 cm long; ovate, becoming lacerate above, reduced in head bearing region to bracts. Heads in speciform arrangement (terminal). Phyllaries 3-4, free, cuneate, terminally rounded.
