Habitat:
In muddy, sometimes flooded, ditch. Full sun. Soil probably acidic. Among Salix, Poaceae and much Typha latifolia.
Description:
Stout, erect perennial from rhizomes. Stalk jointless, 2 m tall. Leaves simple, erect, sheathing the base, about 1 cm wide, yellow-green. Plant monoecious. Staminate portion of spike 1 x 30 cm, coarser than, above & separated from pistillate portion (1 x 16 cm) by about 3+ cm. Both light brown.
