Habitat: Moist, sometimes flooded ditch bottom. Full sun. Alkaline soil.

Description: Erect, branching annual, to 15 dm tall. Leaves lanceolate, serrate; lower ones petiolate, upper ones sessile. Inflorescence cymose in purplish heads.
